1 spring onion

1 tbsp cooking oil

A pinch of sesame seeds
Thinly slice 1 onion and cut 1 spring onion diagonally. Gently pat the 300g of beef with a paper towel to remove excess blood.
In a large bowl, add the beef and 4–5 tablespoons of Beksul Bulgogi Marinade. Add 1 teaspoon of Sempio soy sauce to boost the umami. Mix well by hand and let it marinate for at least 10 minutes (the longer, the deeper the flavor).
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat for 1 minute. When you feel strong heat rising above the pan, it's ready.
Add the sliced onion first and stir-fry for 2 minutes. Move on once the onion turns translucent with slightly golden edges.
Add the marinated beef along with its sauce. Keep the heat medium-high and spread the meat out so it doesn't clump. Stir-fry about 5 minutes until the pink is gone and it turns brown. If too much liquid comes out, raise the heat to evaporate it (too much liquid turns a stir-fry into a stew).
Just before turning off the heat, add the spring onion and stir quickly for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Turn off the heat once its fragrance rises.
Slightly open the lid of the CJ Cooked Rice and microwave for 2 minutes. It's done when steam rises.
Put the hot rice in a wide bowl and generously top it with the bulgogi, including its juices.
Rub sesame seeds between your fingers and sprinkle on top, adding a little extra spring onion if you like. Serve immediately while the sweet-savory aroma is fresh.
Can I make it less sweet, or spicier?
Use a bit less marinade and add more soy sauce to reduce sweetness. For spice, add 1 tsp of chili powder or fresh chili while stir-frying.
How many servings is this?
This recipe serves 2, and with 500g of marinade you can make it 2–3 more times.
How do I store leftover bulgogi?
Cool it fully, then store in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the fridge or 2 weeks in the freezer. Add a splash of water when reheating to keep it moist.
Can I use meat other than beef?
Yes, thinly sliced pork or chicken work well too. Cook chicken a little longer to be safe.
What cooking tools do I need?
A large bowl, a wide pan (or frying pan), a microwave, and a spatula are all you need.
Is it good for beginners or kids?
The marinade is pre-made, so it's nearly foolproof. It's not spicy, so kids love it — stir-frying the onion longer brings out extra sweetness.
