Authentic Korean Food · Authentic Korean Wheat Noodles
Authentic Korean dried wheat noodles made by Nonghyup (National Agricultural Cooperative Federation of Korea). One of the most beloved noodles in Korean households, crafted simply from wheat flour, water, and salt for a clean, pure flavour. Widely used in a variety of Korean home-cooked dishes — from Bibim-guksu and Janchi-guksu to Myeolchi-guksu — the generous 900g size is perfect for family meals or multiple servings.
Like wine tasting notes, the flavour of these noodles is expressed across five dimensions.
The noodles themselves are very clean and smooth, making them a versatile base that pairs well with any seasoning or broth.

"Mak-guksu" is a name traditionally associated with cold buckwheat noodles in Korea, but this Nonghyup Mak-guksu product contains no buckwheat whatsoever. The actual ingredients are simply wheat flour, salt, and water — making it a pure wheat noodle. Those with a buckwheat allergy can therefore enjoy this product without concern about buckwheat. The noodles have a pleasantly chewy and springy texture, and are enjoyed either tossed in a spicy-sweet sauce or served in a hot broth.
Yes, Nonghyup Mak-guksu is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians. The ingredients consist solely of wheat flour, salt, and water, with no animal-derived ingredients whatsoever. Please note that any sauce or broth used to serve the noodles must be prepared separately — those following a vegan diet can use a vegetable broth or a vegan Gochujang-based sauce.
Yes, this product contains gluten. The primary ingredient is wheat flour, which falls under "gluten-containing cereals" — one of the 14 major allergens listed under EU food labelling regulation (Regulation 1169/2011). Individuals with coeliac disease or wheat/gluten sensitivity should avoid this product. We also recommend checking the physical product packaging directly for any cross-contamination ("May contain") warnings.
Preparation is very straightforward. Add the noodles to a pot of boiling water and cook for approximately 4–5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly under cold water to remove excess starch and achieve a pleasantly chewy texture. The noodles themselves have a mild, clean wheat flavour that transforms entirely depending on the sauce or broth used. The most popular style is "Bibim Mak-guksu" — noodles tossed in a spicy-sweet sauce of Gochujang, soy sauce, sesame oil, vinegar, and sugar. They can also be served cold in a chilled vegetable broth. Think of them like Italian pasta — the noodle is a neutral canvas that takes on the character of whatever sauce accompanies it.
This product contains approximately 1.86g of salt per 100g, which is relatively high compared to other dried noodle products. Those following a low-sodium diet are advised to moderate their portion size and minimise the amount of additional seasoning used. For storage, keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Once opened, transfer to an airtight container to prevent moisture absorption and use as soon as possible.
