Usage Guide

Before First Use
After opening for the first time, gently wash with warm water, a soft sponge, and mild dish soap, then allow to air dry completely before use. A faint natural bamboo scent may be present initially — this is normal and will fade after use.
Cleaning & Storage
Hand washing is recommended. After use, gently wash with lukewarm water and mild dish soap, wipe dry, and store in a well-ventilated area until fully dry. Dishwasher, microwave, and oven use is not recommended as it may cause warping or cracking. Do not soak in water for extended periods.
Perfect for Asian Cuisine
These chopsticks pair naturally with all Asian dishes — Korean Bibimbap, Japchae, and noodle soups; Japanese Ramen, Udon, and Sushi; Chinese Jajangmyeon and dim sum; Vietnamese Pho, and more. Explore the full range of Asian food culture with a single set.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is this product a food item or a kitchen utensil?

The Shine Farm Bamboo Twisted Chopsticks (set of 5 pairs) are a kitchen eating utensil, not a food product. They are chopsticks used daily in Korean and East Asian food culture for picking up food or mixing ingredients during cooking. The name "Kkwabaegi" (twisted) has nothing to do with the Korean Kkwabaegi pastry — it refers to the spiral (twisted) design on the handle of the chopsticks. This spiral grip is a practical design feature that prevents the chopsticks from slipping in the hand.

How should bamboo chopsticks be cleaned and maintained?

It is recommended to avoid the dishwasher and instead hand wash with lukewarm water and mild dish soap. After washing, wipe dry immediately and store in a dry location. Soaking in water for extended periods may cause the bamboo to crack or warp. As a utensil that comes into direct contact with food, hygienic care is important. This product is a food contact material and may be subject to safety standards under EU Regulation (EC) 1935/2004.

Why do Koreans commonly use metal chopsticks instead of wood or bamboo? When are these bamboo chopsticks most suitable?

Great question! Korea is unusual among East Asian countries in that stainless steel metal chopsticks are the norm for everyday dining. In contrast, wooden or bamboo chopsticks are more common in China, Japan, Vietnam, and other Asian countries. Shine Farm's Bamboo Twisted Chopsticks are ideal for those who prefer a lightweight, natural material, or for European households who enjoy Korean and Asian cuisine and want to experience authentic dining utensils. They are great for picnics, Asian-themed dinners, or everyday Asian cooking.

Can you explain the correct way to use chopsticks for Europeans who are trying them for the first time?

No need to worry if it's your first time! Here are the basics: rest the lower chopstick between your thumb and ring finger and keep it stationary. Hold the upper chopstick like a pencil, controlling it with your index and middle fingers. Bring the tips of both chopsticks together to pick up food. The spiral handle of the Shine Farm Twisted Chopsticks is designed to stay firmly in hand without slipping, making them a great choice for beginners. Start by practising with larger, firmer foods such as blocks of tofu or boiled potato.

The set contains 5 pairs — how are chopsticks used in Korean dining culture? Is it one chopstick per person like a fork?

Chopsticks are used one pair (2 pieces) per person. So a set of 5 pairs means 5 individual place settings — one pair per diner. A distinctive feature of Korean dining culture is that chopsticks and a spoon are used together: rice and soup are eaten with the spoon, while side dishes (banchan) are picked up with chopsticks. Just as Europeans use a fork and knife together, in Korea this chopstick-and-spoon combination is the standard set of dining utensils.
