Korean-Style Serving Ideas · Recetas Coreanas

Discover the many ways udon noodles are enjoyed in Korean households — experience authentic flavours as they are.

Garaetteok-Style Udon
우동 국물
The most classic and popular way to enjoy udon. The noodles are added to a clear broth made from anchovies, dried kelp, and soy sauce, then topped with fish cake, spring onion, and egg. One of the most familiar dishes at Korean snack restaurants, loved as a warming meal on cold days.
Kimchi Udon
김치 우동
A Korean twist that adds Kimchi and Kimchi brine to the udon broth for a spicy, tangy kick. The more aged the Kimchi, the deeper the flavour — adding a little pork makes it even richer. Think of it like a Korean take on European sauerkraut soup.
Rabokki-Style
우동 떡볶이
In Korea, it is common to use udon noodles in Tteokbokki instead of ramyeon. Simmering rice cakes and udon together in a Gochujang sauce results in thick noodles that soak up the sweet and spicy sauce, making for a deeply satisfying meal.
Budae-Jjigae Noodle
부대찌개 사리
Budae-Jjigae (Korean army stew), born in the post-war era, is often served with udon noodles added at the end. The thick noodles absorb the rich broth of ham, sausage, Kimchi, and Gochujang, making every bite deeply flavourful.
Bibim Udon
비빔 우동
A cold preparation similar to Bibim Guksu. The noodles are cooked, rinsed in cold water, then tossed in a sauce of Gochujang, vinegar, sugar, and sesame oil. Topped with cucumber, boiled egg, and dried seaweed flakes, it makes a classic Korean summer dish.
Janchi-Style Udon
잔치 우동
Inspired by the Korean tradition of Janchi Guksu (banquet noodles), this style serves the noodles in a clear anchovy broth, neatly topped with egg garnish, zucchini, and dried seaweed flakes. Mild and clean in flavour, it is ideal for those who prefer less spicy food.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Sanuki Udon? How is it different from regular pasta or ramyeon?

Sanuki Udon is a thick, chewy wheat noodle originating from Kagawa Prefecture in Japan. It is much thicker and springier than pasta, and unlike ramyeon, it is not deep-fried — it comes as a fresh or frozen cooked noodle. This product follows the traditional Sanuki Udon style but is produced by Korean food manufacturer Our Home. While the satisfying chew is comparable to thick European pasta such as pappardelle, the ingredient list is far simpler — made with just wheat flour and salt.

Is this product suitable for vegans or vegetarians?

Yes, this product is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians. The ingredients consist solely of wheat flour, modified starch, salt, and gluten — no animal-derived ingredients whatsoever. Please note, however, that while the noodles themselves are vegan, the final dish may not be, depending on the broth base or toppings used (e.g. fish stock, eggs). Always check the additional ingredients you use when cooking.

I have allergies — can I eat this product? What allergens does it contain?

This product contains gluten (WHEAT / GLUTEN), which is a major allergen required to be declared under EU food labelling regulations (Regulation 1169/2011, Annex II). If you have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten (e.g. coeliac disease, wheat allergy), do not consume this product. This product is not gluten-free.

How do I cook frozen udon noodles? Do I need to thaw them first?

No thawing is needed — cook them straight from frozen. There are two common methods: ① Boiling: Bring a generous amount of water to a full boil, add the frozen noodles directly, and cook for 2–3 minutes until the noodles are fully separated. Drain and serve with your chosen broth or sauce. ② Microwave: Open the packet, place the noodles in a microwave-safe container with a small amount of water, and heat for 2–3 minutes (adjust according to your appliance). If the noodles are stuck together, briefly submerge them in hot water to separate easily.

How should I store this product? Can I keep it frozen after opening?

This is a frozen product and must be stored at −18 °C or below at all times. Place it in the freezer immediately after purchase. Before opening, it can be stored until the best-before date shown on the packaging. After opening, transfer any remaining noodles to an airtight container or resealable bag and keep frozen, using them as soon as possible. Do not refreeze once thawed.
