Nongshim Shin Ramyun 5-Pack

Authentic Korean Food · Korea's Iconic Instant Noodles

Shin Ramyun (辛라면) has been Korea's best-loved instant noodle since its launch in 1986. Its name comes from the Chinese character "辛" (sin), meaning "spicy." Built on a rich beef broth base with the bold heat of Korean red pepper, it defines the standard of authentic Korean instant noodles. Simply add 550ml of boiling water to one pack (120g) and in just 4–5 minutes you can enjoy the same flavour found in Korean homes.

Discover the many ways Shin Ramyun is enjoyed in Korean homes — experience it the authentic Korean way.

Classic
신라면 그대로
The standard Korean method: add the noodles, powder soup, and vegetable flakes to 550ml of boiling water and cook for 4 minutes 30 seconds. Turn off the heat while the noodles still have a slight chew — that's the texture Koreans prefer.
Egg Topping
계란 라면
A classic Korean variation: crack a whole egg into the pot about 1 minute before the noodles are done and stir gently. The yolk wraps around the spicy broth, softening the heat and adding a richer, creamier depth of flavour.
Kimchi Ramen
김치 라면
A staple among Korean students living alone: add a handful of well-ripened Kimchi and cook together. The acidity of the Kimchi blends into the spicy broth, creating a deeper, more refreshing flavour.
Cheese Ramen
치즈 라면
A popular item at Korean snack bars: place a slice of processed cheese on top of the finished noodles. As the cheese melts, it tones down the spiciness and adds a creamy, indulgent flavour.
Rabokki
라볶이
A Korean fusion street food: cook Shin Ramyun noodles together with rice cakes (Tteok) and fish cakes (Eomuk). The chewy rice cakes combined with the spicy ramyeon broth make this one of Korea's most beloved street food variations.
Budae Jjigae Style
부대찌개식
An iconic Korean dish with post-war origins: cook together with Spam, sausage, beans, tofu, and Kimchi. Using Shin Ramyun's soup powder as the base makes it easy to recreate the rich flavour of Budae Jjigae at home.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is Nongshim Shin Ramyun? An introduction for European consumers trying it for the first time.

Nongshim Shin Ramyun has been one of the world's most famous Korean instant noodles since its launch in Korea in 1986. "Ramyun" refers to a Korean-style instant noodle dish made with springy wheat noodles cooked together with a powder soup and dried vegetable flakes. Shin Ramyun's defining characteristic is its intense, fiery heat built on a beef broth base with Korean red pepper — much like an arrabbiata pasta, it is ideal for those who enjoy bold, spicy flavours with deep umami. The 5-pack multipack lets you enjoy it conveniently at home multiple times.

Does Shin Ramyun contain any allergens?

Yes. Shin Ramyun contains the following three allergens from the EU's 14 mandatory allergens: ① Gluten (wheat — wheat flour present in noodles and soup), ② Soybeans (defatted soybean present), ③ Eggs (eggshell calcium present). In addition, due to the manufacturing process, the product may share equipment and facilities with milk, peanuts, crustaceans (crab, shrimp), and fish (mackerel), so cross-contamination is possible. Those with allergies to any of these ingredients should exercise caution. This product is not gluten-free and is not suitable for people with coeliac disease.

Is Shin Ramyun suitable for vegetarians or vegans? Does it have halal certification?

No. Shin Ramyun is not suitable for either vegetarians or vegans. The soup contains beef-derived ingredients (seasoned beef powder, beef flavour base, beef bone garlic seasoning powder, etc.) as well as pork bone (pork bone seasoning powder). The product is also not halal certified and contains pork bone ingredients. It is not suitable for consumers who follow halal dietary requirements, and we wish to make this clearly known to Muslim consumers.

How spicy is Shin Ramyun? Can European consumers who are not used to spicy food enjoy it?

Shin Ramyun is classified as a "spicy ramyun" even among Korean instant noodles. Its Scoville rating is approximately 3,000 SHU — similar to or slightly milder than a Mexican jalapeño (2,500–8,000 SHU). First-time eaters may find it quite intense. To reduce the heat, try adding a splash of single cream, coconut milk, or a knob of butter while cooking to mellow the broth. Adding an egg or cheese as a topping also helps balance the flavour. For those who enjoy spicy food, we recommend cooking it as directed to experience the full depth of umami and bold heat.

How should Shin Ramyun be stored and cooked?

Storage: Keep at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, in a cool and dry place. Refrigeration is not required. Once opened, cook and consume immediately. Check the best-before date printed on the packaging. Cooking instructions: ① Bring 550ml of water to a boil in a pot. ② Add the noodles, powder soup, and vegetable flakes. ③ Cook over medium heat for approximately 4–5 minutes until the noodles are done. ④ Customise with eggs, vegetables, cheese, or other toppings to make it your own. You can also use a microwave-safe container for a quicker preparation. As this product is relatively high in sodium (1,492mg per 100g), those monitoring their sodium intake may wish to use only half the soup sachet.
