Golbaengi is the Korean name for sea whelk, a type of marine gastropod mollusc. This Dongwon product contains 45% whelk sourced from the UK and Ireland. The texture is characteristically chewy and firm, with a mild oceanic aroma and a clean, savoury umami flavour. Whelks are also a traditional seafood enjoyed along the coastal regions of France, the UK, and Belgium, so European consumers will find them a familiar ingredient. In Korea, they are most commonly served tossed in a spicy seasoning or alongside thin noodles.
Yes, this product contains three of the EU's 14 mandatory allergens. First, the whelk itself is classified as a MOLLUSC. Second, the soy sauce used in the product contains WHEAT (gluten), so those with a gluten allergy should take care. Third, the soy sauce is made with defatted SOYBEANS, which may affect those with a soy allergy. Anyone with allergies to molluscs, gluten, or soybeans should carefully check the ingredient list before consuming.

This is a sterilised canned product. Before opening, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Long-term storage after opening is not recommended for hygiene reasons. Please check the best-before date printed on the bottom or side of the can for the exact shelf life.
