This product does not contain any of the 14 EU mandatory allergens (gluten, crustaceans, eggs, fish, peanuts, soybeans, milk, tree nuts, celery, mustard, sesame, sulphites, lupin, molluscs). However, as the manufacturing facility may handle other food products, individuals with severe allergies are advised to check the label once more before consumption.

Mulyeot is a clear syrup that has been used in Korean cooking for hundreds of years, made by enzymatically hydrolyzing and refining corn starch. It is a refined syrup produced without any fermentation process. While it shares some similarities with European golden syrup or glucose syrup, Mulyeot has a more subtle sweetness, a cleaner finish, and imparts a distinctive glossy sheen. Rather than the strong sweetness of sugar, it enhances the natural flavours of ingredients, making it widely used in Korean cooking for braised dishes, stir-fries, sauces, marinades, and baking.
Yes, Chungjungone Mulyeot 5kg is suitable for Vegan and Vegetarian diets. The ingredients consist solely of 100% corn starch and contain no animal-derived components. Furthermore, as no gluten-containing grains such as wheat, barley, or rye are included in the ingredients, it is also suitable for a Gluten-Free diet. Please note that Halal certification has not been officially confirmed at this time; if you require a Halal-certified product, please contact the manufacturer (Chungjungone / Daesang Corporation) directly.
The corn used as the raw material for Chungjungone Mulyeot is imported corn. GMO status is not clearly indicated on the current official label. Under EU Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003, labelling is required when GMO ingredients are present above a certain threshold. Consumers for whom GMO status is important are advised to confirm directly with the manufacturer, Daesang Corporation (Chungjungone), before purchasing, or to contact the DotAsia customer service team.
Mulyeot should be stored sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. As this is a large 5kg product, please ensure the lid is tightly closed after opening. During long-term storage, the syrup may harden or crystallise; in this case, placing the container briefly in warm water will restore its smooth consistency. Refrigeration is not recommended as it increases viscosity and makes the product harder to use — room temperature storage is advised. Please check the product label for the exact best-before date.
Mulyeot is not limited to Korean cooking and can be used in a wide variety of European dishes.
