Chilgap Glutinous Rice Dumpling Wrappers 310g (Frozen)

Authentic Korean Food · Homemade Korean-Style Mandu

These round dumpling wrapper sheets are used in Korean households when making Mandu from scratch. Made with glutinous rice flour (chapssal), they deliver a noticeably chewier and softer texture than standard wheat-only wrappers. In Korea, they are the go-to choice for making Kimchi Mandu, Gogi Mandu, and Gun-mandu at home — simply fill with your preferred ingredients and fold to create authentic Korean-style Mandu. One pack (310g) yields approximately 20–25 dumplings.

Korean Ways to Use It · Recetas Coreanas

Six classic Korean dishes made with Mandu wrappers in Korean households — try the authentic flavours at home.

Kimchi Mandu
김치만두
Korea's most beloved Mandu. Finely chopped ripe Kimchi is mixed with tofu and minced pork (or tofu only for a vegan version) to make the filling, then wrapped and either steamed or pan-fried. The tangy flavour of Kimchi pairs perfectly with the chewy wrapper, making it a staple of Korean home cooking.
Gogi Mandu
고기만두
Classic Korean-style Mandu filled with minced pork or beef seasoned with chopped garlic chives, onion, garlic, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Often prepared for holidays and entertaining guests, served with a dipping sauce of soy sauce, vinegar, and chilli flakes.
Gun-mandu
군만두
Pan-fried Mandu cooked in a lightly oiled pan until golden and crispy on the bottom while remaining chewy on top — a delightful contrast of textures. In Korea, Gun-mandu is a classic pairing with Jajangmyeon or Jjamppong noodles, and is equally popular as a beer snack.
Mandu-guk
만두국
A warm soup made by simmering Mandu in a clear beef broth or anchovy-kelp stock, finished with dried seaweed, egg garnish, and spring onion. In Korea, it is traditionally enjoyed on Seollal (Lunar New Year) alongside rice cakes as Tteok-Mandu-guk.
Tteok-Mandu-guk
떡만두국
Korea's iconic Lunar New Year dish — Mandu-guk with sliced rice cakes (garae-tteok) added to the broth. Koreans traditionally believe that eating this dish on New Year's Day marks gaining another year of age. The chewiness of the rice cakes and the softness of the glutinous rice wrappers complement each other beautifully.
Jjin-mandu
찐만두
Mandu steamed in a bamboo or standard steamer for 8–10 minutes. The most fundamental cooking method, allowing the wrapper's naturally chewy and tender texture to come through at its best. Enjoyed with a Korean-style dipping sauce of soy sauce, rice vinegar, chilli flakes, and sesame oil.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How are glutinous rice dumpling wrappers different from regular dumpling wrappers?

Regular dumpling wrappers are made with wheat flour only, giving them a relatively thin and smooth texture. Chilgap's glutinous rice dumpling wrappers, by contrast, incorporate glutinous rice flour (chapssal), resulting in a noticeably chewier and more elastic texture after cooking. Much like the springy bite of Italian gnocchi or fresh mozzarella, the wrappers have a soft, satisfying resistance that many find irresistible once they try it. When pan-fried, the outside turns crispy while the inside stays chewy — a wonderful dual texture. When steamed, the entire wrapper becomes tender and moist throughout.

Are these wrappers suitable for vegans or vegetarians?

Yes, the Chilgap glutinous rice dumpling wrappers themselves are suitable for both vegans and vegetarians. They contain no animal-derived ingredients. Since the filling is prepared separately by the consumer, those following a vegan or vegetarian diet can simply use plant-based ingredients such as tofu, vegetables, or mushrooms. Please note, however, that this product contains gluten (wheat flour) and soybeans (soybean oil), so those with relevant allergies should take care.

Does this product contain any allergens?

Yes, this product contains two of the 14 major allergens listed under EU Regulation 1169/2011: ① Gluten — wheat flour is the primary ingredient, making this product unsuitable for those with coeliac disease or a wheat allergy. ② Soybeans — soybean oil is included in the ingredients. This product is therefore not gluten-free. If you require information on allergens beyond these two, we recommend contacting the manufacturer (Chilgap Nonsan, chilkabfood.com) directly before purchase.

How should I store these wrappers, and how do I prepare them before cooking?

This is a frozen product and must be kept frozen (−18 °C or below) after purchase. When ready to use, transfer from the freezer to the refrigerator (4 °C) and allow to thaw slowly for 2–3 hours. Rapid thawing at room temperature may cause the sheets to stick together or tear. Once thawed, carefully peel apart one sheet at a time and use immediately. Do not refreeze once thawed, and use within the same day after defrosting.

What dishes can I make with these wrappers? How do I cook them?

Chilgap glutinous rice dumpling wrappers are versatile and can be used in many ways. ① Gun-mandu (Pan-fried): Place filled dumplings in a lightly oiled pan. Once the base turns golden, add a small splash of water and cover with a lid to steam through. The result is a crispy base with a chewy wrapper. ② Mul-mandu (Boiled): Drop filled dumplings into boiling water and cook for 2–3 minutes after they float to the surface. They also work well added to clear soups and broths. ③ Jjin-mandu (Steamed): Steam in a steamer basket for 8–10 minutes for a moist, tender result. Fillings can be customised freely — vegetables, tofu, meat, cheese, and more all work well.
