How to Enjoy Korean-Style · Korean Serving Ideas

Here are the most popular ways Korean households enjoy Mandu. Experience them just as they are served in Korea.

Jjin Mandu
찐만두 그대로
The most common way to enjoy Mandu in Korea. Steam for 5–7 minutes or heat in a microwave, then dip in a sauce made from soy sauce, vinegar and chilli flakes. In Korea, Jjin Mandu is a beloved everyday food enjoyed as a meal, snack or late-night bite.
Mandu-guk
만둣국
Korean Mandu soup. Simmer Mandu in anchovy or bone broth, then finish with beaten egg, dried seaweed flakes and sliced spring onion. In Korea, this warming soup is a classic dish enjoyed on cold winter days and during the Lunar New Year.
Tteok-Mandu-guk
떡만둣국
A traditional Korean New Year's dish. Sliced garae-tteok (rice cake) is added to Mandu-guk, combining the chewy texture of rice cake with the soft bite of Mandu. In Korea, it is said that eating a bowl of this dish marks the start of a new year of life.
Gun Mandu
군만두
Pan-fry the Mandu in a little oil until the bottom is golden and crispy, while the inside remains juicy and tender. Gun Mandu is a popular item at Korean snack restaurants (bunsikjip), often served alongside Jajangmyeon or Jjamppong noodles.
Mandu-jeongol
만두전골
A Korean-style hot pot. Fill a wide shallow pot with Mandu, napa cabbage, mushrooms, glass noodles and tofu, pour over broth and cook at the table. This hearty one-pot dish is perfect for sharing with family and friends.
Rabokki Mandu
라볶이 만두 토핑
A classic Korean street food combination. Cook Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes in gochujang sauce) together with Ramyeon noodles and Mandu, letting the sweet-spicy sauce soak into the dumpling wrappers for an irresistible street food experience.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What are Bibigo Chicken & Coriander Steamed Mandu? Are they similar to any European food?

Mandu are traditional Korean dumplings made from thin wheat flour wrappers filled with various ingredients. They are structurally similar to Italian ravioli or Polish pierogi, but Korean Mandu are characterised by thinner wrappers and a lighter, vegetable-forward filling. This product uses chicken thigh meat, coriander, a variety of vegetables (onion, napa cabbage, shiitake mushroom, garlic chives) and tofu as filling, with the fresh aromatic flavour of coriander (cilantro) as a highlight. Jjin Mandu — steamed dumplings — are prepared without oil, resulting in a moist and tender texture.

Which allergens does this product contain?

This product contains gluten (wheat) and soya (soy sauce, tofu) from the EU 14 mandatory allergens. It also contains pork gelatin, making it unsuitable for those who avoid pork. ⚠️ Important notice: Depending on the distribution label, sesame allergen labelling may vary. If you have a sesame allergy, please check the physical packaging label of the product you have purchased. This product is not recommended for those with gluten or soya allergies.

Is this product suitable for vegan, vegetarian, halal or kosher diets?

No. This product is not suitable for vegan or vegetarian diets, as it contains chicken thigh meat and chicken extract. It also contains pork gelatin and therefore does not hold halal or kosher certification, making it unsuitable for diets that exclude pork. Additionally, this product contains Makgeolli (a traditional Korean rice wine) as a minor ingredient, so caution is advised for those who need to avoid alcohol entirely.

How do I cook frozen steamed Mandu? Do I need to thaw them first?

No thawing is required — cook directly from frozen. There are three main cooking methods: ① Steamer (recommended): Place Mandu in a single layer in a steamer over boiling water, cover with a lid and steam for approximately 10–12 minutes. ② Microwave: Place Mandu in a microwave-safe container, sprinkle with a little water, cover and heat at 700W for 4–5 minutes. ③ Boiling: Drop Mandu directly into boiling water or broth and cook for 8–10 minutes. They are fully cooked when they float to the surface and the wrappers become translucent. You can also pan-fry them in a little oil for a crispy Gun Mandu style.

How should I store this product, and how do I check the expiry date?

This is a frozen product and must be stored at −18°C or below at all times. Once thawed, do not refreeze — cook and consume immediately. Any remaining product after opening should be sealed and kept frozen, and consumed as soon as possible. The exact expiry date (Best Before or Use By) is printed on the back or bottom of the packaging. In accordance with EU food labelling regulations (1169/2011), please consume the product before the indicated date.
