Additionally, sunflower oil used in the noodle production contains soy. Regarding the seaweed topping (0.1%), potential cross-contamination with molluscs has been noted in some markets; consumers with a mollusc allergy are advised to contact the manufacturer directly. This product is not gluten-free.
Suitability for vegans or vegetarians cannot be confirmed with certainty at this time. No clearly animal-derived ingredients are visible in the ingredient list; however, the flavour enhancers E627 (disodium guanylate) and E631 (disodium inosinate) present in the sauce are frequently derived from animal or fish sources. This is a shelf-stable instant udon product that can be stored at room temperature before opening. Once opened, it should be consumed immediately. Preparation is very straightforward: ① Blanch the noodles in boiling water for 2–3 minutes, drain, add the sauce and toss well; or ② stir-fry the noodles with a small amount of water and the sauce in a pan for a slightly different texture. Adding ingredients readily available at European supermarkets — such as mushrooms, spinach, carrots or eggs — makes for an even more satisfying bowl. As the salt content is relatively high at 1.9g per 100g, we recommend not adding extra salt or soy sauce when seasoning.
